Limpet Dam Installation
for Tidal Gate Maintenance, Cornwall
As part of the Truro tide gate works, dewatered access was required to the gate pintle to facilitate inspection, maintenance and replacement activities.
Located within a tidal environment at the entrance to the harbour, the project presented a significant challenge, requiring a safe and reliable method of isolating the work area from the surrounding water whilst maintaining the navigation.
The temporary works solution needed to provide dry access to critical components 6m below the waterline, enabling works to be completed safely and efficiently.
High Water developed a bespoke temporary water control solution using our Modular Limpet Dam system.
Installed directly onto the existing structure, the dam created a sealed working area around the gate pintle, allowing the work zone to be isolated and dewatered.
Our team provided a complete package including survey support, temporary works design, fabrication, installation and dewatering services. Once installed, the Limpet Dam provided safe access to the structure, enabling the planned gate works to proceed within a controlled working environment
